We are currently making plans for activities at Easter and over the summer - watch this space!
The FREE weekly Tai Chi/Qi Gong classes in the park take place every Wednesday at 12.30pm. All welcome. Meet near the Shelter. The March to May sessions were directly funded by the Cadbury Barn Trust and the Friends of Manor Farm Park have funded over the summer. An Awards For All grant ensures that sessions will continue through the Autumn. The sessions are now usually held on the area above the children's playground.
The sessions will recommence on 1st March 2024.
Manor Farm Park was one of a number of local sites open on the 9th September 2023. As usual the Cadbury Barn Trust and the Friends of Manor Farm Park set up stall in the shelter and welcomed over 50 people who learned more about the park and its history. Lesley Pattenson led ten people on two guided walks covering not just the Cadbury's legacy and connection to the park but also the history of the parkland going back to medieval times.
Lots of people young and old enjoyed our free summer activities programme, although we were sad that many people booked but did not turn up for the events. We will be reviewing our strategy for future activity programmes.
To celebrate Easter 2023, the Cadbury Barn Trust held a series of FREE events for all ages during the Easter holidays. The events were chosen building on replies received to our recent survey of park users and feedback from previous activity participants.
Wednesday 5th April at 10am: Spring Foraging Walk - suitable for all ages - was fully booked
Thursday 6th April at 10am: Forest School for preschool aged children - was fully booked
Tuesday 11th April at 10am: Pottery Workshop - was fully booked.
Wednesday 12th April at 10am and 1pm: Bike Maintenance Workshops - These sessions for 11–16-year-olds were cancelled due to low take up.
The Friends of Manor Farm Park organised a 'bunny hunt' over the Easter weekend. it is likely that in future this event will be held on one day only.
Trustees joined the Friends of Manor Farm Park at their annual Autumn Antics event on Thursday 27th October 2022 to meet the public and explain our purpose, progress and plans for the park to more people.
With the Friends of Manor Farm Park, we held another successful Bournville Heritage Day event with many new visitors to the park. We distributed over 40 Heritage Trail leaflets and added a number of interested people to our mailing list.
The group below were so keen they were waiting for us to turn up with the leaflets at 10.00am!
Summer 2022 events and activities
We organised a programme of activities promoting health and wellbeing for children and adults of all ages in the park over the summer. This was funded by Commonwealth Games Celebrating Communities and David East grants.
The activities were well recieved; we now have a better idea of the most popular types of activities which will help us seek funding for future events in the park. Huge thanks to our volunteer activity co-ordinator, Frances Grudzinska. Frances has now joined the Trust as a Trustee.
In July 2021 Duncan Cadbury cut the ribbon at the Shelter in Manor Farm Park to launch the new Heritage Lottery Funded Heritage Trail pointing out significant features in the park.
Please follow and post on the new Manor Farm Park Instagram account – which will show photos, news and promote events happening in the park, whether organised by ourselves, the Friends, or other organisations: #manorfarmpark #cadburybarntrust #friendsofmanorfarmpark
